Most psychedelic retreats focus on the peak moment — the ceremony or dosing session. At Afterlight, the real work begins after that moment.
We are a psychology-led, integration-focused program built by clinicians, not facilitators or wellness practitioners. Every program includes evidence-based preparation, PhD-led therapeutic integration, and a follow-care pathway designed to turn insight into real, lasting change. This is not tourism.
This is clinical, structured healing in a legal environment.
Yes, we truly believe in supporting recovery initiates through tourism at a time when Jamaica needs it the most. Participants will experience a well thought out, authentic cultural, spiritual and transformative retreat experience.
Yes, daily meals (breakfast and dinner) are included on our retreats. We discuss allergies and dietary requirements with each participant.
Difficult moments are a natural — and sometimes essential — part of psilocybin assisted therapy. At Afterlight, you are never navigating them alone. Every journey is supported by a psychologist-led team trained in trauma, emotional processing, and nervous-system stabilization. If something challenging arises, we:
✴️ Stay with you the entire time.
Your guide remains present, attuned, and in connection — you are never left alone in discomfort.
✴️ Use grounding and containment tools.
Our team is trained in grounding and regulation protocols, and verbal reassurance to help you feel safe and supported.
✴️ Help you meet the experience, not suppress it.
We gently guide you so that the difficult moment can unfold in a way that feels held, manageable, and meaningful — without overwhelm.
✴️ Integrate the experience afterwards.
What feels intense in the moment often becomes the doorway to healing. Your integration session helps you make sense of it and turn it into clarity, relief, or emotional release.
In other words; difficult doesn’t mean dangerous — and with the right support, it often becomes transformative. At Afterlight, depth is welcomed, but never forced — always guided, always held.
Psychedelic healing isn’t just about what happens during the session — it’s about what you do with it afterward. Without integrating or processing the experience, it simply becomes a memory rather than a catalyst for change.
Integration is the process of turning state insight into action — making sense of what surfaced, understanding the emotional patterns revealed, and gently translating those realizations into your daily life.
The Afterlight method involves building integration as the critical step in the healing process. It’s why we offer Aftercare — a 6-session post-program track designed to help you ground the experience, process and release any deeper emotion memories and build long-term change. We strongly recommend adding this to any program you attend — because this is where the real transformation happens. Learn more after Aftercare Integration program.
In the context of a psilocybin journey, set and setting are the foundation that
everything else rests on. They shape not only how the experience unfolds, but how meaning, insight, and healing land within you.
Set is your inner climate — your mindset, emotional state, intentions, and the stories you bring with you into the space. It’s the tone of your inner voice, the openness of your heart, and the expectations you quietly hold.
Setting is the outer container — the room, the natural surroundings, the people supporting you, the warmth of the Jamaican air, the grounding presence of the ocean, the gentle rhythm of the island. It is everything around you that helps you feel safe, relaxed, and ready to explore.
At a psilocybin retreat, the harmony between set and setting becomes a kind of partnership. When your inner world is met by a compassionate external environment, your experience can unfold with more ease, trust, and insight. You’re not pushing yourself into anything — you’re allowing something deeply human to emerge within a cared-for space.
This is the heart of what we create in Jamaica: a setting that feels rooted, peaceful, and held… so that your inner set can soften, open, and meet the journey with curiosity.
journey?
Music plays a profoundly, often supportive role in psilocybin experiences — often in ways that feel almost mystical. Without saying a word, music becomes a steady companion, gently guiding you through emotional landscapes that might otherwise feel overwhelming or unfamiliar.
Here’s why many people call it the hidden therapist:
✴️ It speaks to the soul more directly than language.
Music can reach emotional depths that the thinking mind can’t access, helping
you process, release, or soften into what arises.
✴️ It provides a sense of safety and continuity.
Even as your inner experience shifts and expands, the music remains a
comforting thread that helps you feel anchored.
✴️ It mirrors your emotional journey.
Carefully curated playlists can support the natural rise and fall of the experience, meeting you gently where you are and inviting you deeper when you’re ready.
✴️ It guides without controlling.
Music doesn’t dictate what you feel; it simply holds space. It creates a room
within the room — a warm, emotional environment that helps you navigate
with more ease.
In this way, music becomes an intuitive companion: quietly wise, deeply empathetic, and always present. It can hold your hand when the experience feels tender, expand with you during moments of wonder, and help you come back to yourself as the journey settles.
